Over 3,000 participants from Europe, Asia, and the Americas gathered in Rimini from July 1- 4 for the 30th Annual Congress of the European College of Sport Science (ECSS), a highly attended and well-received edition. The event stood out for its rich scientific programme, the appeal of the destination - particularly suitable for sport-related topics - and the beauty and functionality of the Palacongressi. Once again, Rimini proved to be the perfect place for hosting successful international events.

Here’s what the key players had to say!

ALEXANDER FERRAUTI

ECSS President

"To set a good example of sustainability, I myself came to Italy by bicycle! The Palacongressi is tailor-made for international events and can easily be reached by bike or scooter through a park, from the sea, or from the historic city centre. Rimini has two unexpected sides: the vibrant beach and the very beautiful old town".

THOMAS GIEL

ECSS Managing Director

"The Palacongressi team is amazing! From the very beginning, whether our requests were general or urgent or specific, we were supported in the best possible way. Our delegates shared a lot of positive feedback with us. This year’s edition in Rimini is undoubtedly one of the most successful congresses we’ve ever had, and we can truly call it international".

SAMUELE MARCORA

ECSS2025 Congress President and Full Professor at UNIBO

"After 26 years, ECSS2025 returns to Italy. The country has great international appeal thanks to its food, climate, history, and the variety of things to do before and after the sessions. The congress is the result of a growing collaboration between Rimini, the Palacongressi, and the University of Bologna (UNIBO). In fact, three more sport-related congresses are already scheduled to take place in Rimini by 2029".

The event manager's remarks

"This particular event really proved how optimal the technical equipment and services at the Palacongressi are for the digital innovation needs of communication during international conferences. The need to effectively disseminate the scientific programme led to highly customised technologies being made available. A total of 68 monitors of various sizes were used to deliver digital content throughout the venue—in the foyers, at the entrances to rooms, in the registration areas, and even outdoors. Numerous daily content updates were assured throughout the four days of the event.

A dedicated network system was also developed for poster communication, allowing live access to the 400 daily presentations via the congress app. This ensured maximum content sharing everywhere with the highest level of functionality. A challenge we took on and... won!"
