Origin of the name of the historical sites in Rimini
The Lavatoio Room takes its name from the plain brick wash house located in Borgo San Gaudenzo, an area of the city in the direction of the hills, that lies beyond Porta Montanara and the Roman walls. It was built in the 1800s when cities began constructing public utility buildings to offer better conditions to their citizens. The people no longer had to take their laundry and wooden washboards to the freezing waters of the river.
