Lonely Planet celebrates Emilia Romagna

First place for Emilia Romagna in the Lonely Planet Best in Europe 2018 list. Well-deserved recognition that comes just a few months after the New York Times crowned Rimini among the best destinations in the world. Internationally renowned food, the best-preserved medieval and Renaissance architecture, and internationally worshipped sports cars are just some of the reasons that makes our region the top 2018 European destination, according to the prestigious guidebook publisher.

But here are the 9 reasons that have rewarded the Emilia Romagna region: "Gaze upon the Ravenna's stunning mosaics, stuff yourself with cuisine and culture in Bologna, rev your engine Motor Valley, gorge on parmesan and prosciutto in Parma, seek out architecture and music in Renaissance Ferrara, taste the real balsamic vinegar of Modena, step right into a storybook in medieval Brisighella, make an operatic pilgrimage to Verdi's hometown of Busseto, and get some sun, sea and cinema in Rimini".

It goes on to say that Rimini is not only a great place for lazing on the beach and living the night life, "it certainly has a lot to offer, starting from its most famous Roman monuments: the Arch of Augustus and the Tiberius Bridge, the oldest Roman bridge still in use. In addition, to film buffs the city is notable as the hometown of legendary Italian film director, Federico Fellini, who was born right here". And to top it all off,  from 8 to 10 June, the recently restored Fulgor cinema in Rimini, a place dear to Maestro Fellini, will host the Lonely Planet Ulisse Fest, a travel festival that will transform Rimini into a terrace overlooking the world.
