You are a good for me, is the topic for the Rimini Meeting 2016
Watching and experiencing the world from a different perspective than what war, terrorism, discord and fear of the future offers us on a daily basis, is the compassionate and cultural proposal from the 37th edition of the Meeting for Friendship among Peoples, to be held at Rimini Expo Centre from 19-25 August.
The "challenging" nature of the event's title says it all, "You are a good for me". An invitation to acknowledge and see others not as enemies, but to tolerate and exchange opinions with those different from you, understanding that "you" represents a meaning and value that exists in each and every one of us. Through a multitude of exhibitions, shows, round tables and shared experiences, the Meeting will recount stories of integration and forgiveness, with specific focus on today's emergencies, in particular on the phenomenon of migration involving millions of people, that is affecting our country and indeed, our entire continent.
Opening the event will be the President of the Republic, Sergio Mattarella, whereas the speakers and protagonists of the Meeting's agenda include personalities such as, Abdessatar Ben Moussa, Nobel Peace Prize winner in 2015 and President of the Tunisian Human Rights League, Wael Farouq, Professor of Arabic language and literature at the University of Cattolica in Milan, Amar Bhattacharya, researcher of global economy and development programmes, former Prime Minister, Romano Prodi, Minister of Foreign Affairs, Paolo Gentiloni, and President Emeritus of the Italian Parliament's Chamber of Deputies, Luciano Violante.
