Italian Congress and Events Observatory

A snapshot of the congress industry was taken on November 24 during the presentation of the statistical results of theItalian Congress and Events Observatory, a study promoted by Federcongressi&eventi, the non-profit organisation representing public and private operators in the congress industry. .

The research, carried out by ASERI - Postgraduate School of Economics and International Relations in Milan - depicted a national scenario in which 308,912 events (9% international) were held in 2014, involving a total of 25,534,011 participants and attracting 38,237,617 visitors.

The average stay was 1.5 days, with the average number of participants being 83 people per event. The data relative to the economic impact of the MICE industry will be available next year. Operators are, in fact, in the process of elaborating the statistical results for 2015.

The full research can be found on the website of www.federcongressi.it

“An important result”, remarked the President of Federcongressi&eventi, Mario Buscema, “even more so because in other countries the institutions monitor the market, whereas in Italy, it is the private associations who take on the task. We hope that the Observatory, and the significant economic impact of the sector that has emerged from these findings, will reopen the dialogue between institutions, first and foremost, with the Italian Tourism Board".
